Just drawing...

This is the first thing i've ever done digitally. I started off just scribbling a bit in the upper right testing out the replacement pen i got for my tablet, then I realized that I had about 3 quarters of the 'page' left open, so what the hell. The scribbling at the sides is me playing with the whole pressure sensitive aspect of the tablet. That part's pretty cool. It's pretty tough to get used to not looking at the paper while i draw.

The tablet is a few years old, it's an Aiptek 12000U that i got at CompUSA about 5 years ago that never worked worth a damn and completely turned me off to the whole idea of a drawing tablet. I figured they just all worked like ass, and I just sucked because I couldn't figure it out. Turns out the pen on mine was garbage. I bought a Wacom Bamboo last week and couldn't believe the difference in the 2. The only drawback of the Wacom was the size of the drawing area (Less that 4x6 inches). So I started looking up info on the Aiptek that I already had and found quite a few message board posts putting down the pens that originally came with the tablets. A new pen was only $10+shipping, so I ordered one and the difference is remarkable. I actually like the way the Aiptek responds to me better than the Wacom. I'm sure a big part of that is due to the size of the Aiptek, which is 12x9, slightly larger than an actual sheet of paper. So the Wacom is going back to Best Buy this weekend and I'll stick with the larger tablet for the time being. I will miss some of the features of the Wacom, especially the touch zoom/scroll wheel, but I think I can suffer through it, until I can justify buying another tablet when I apparently have had a perfectly good one all along!

I deleted the little bit of stuff that was here previously. It was old, and not so great IMO. But then again none of this stuff is all that great in my eyes when I go back and look at it later.

Lets see how well I manage to keep it updated this time around.....
